The bird = was absent from Feb 3 to 7, but came back yesterday and today. New to the = open water hole on Leeds Creek last week were two Redheads. And new for the = year in my yard today was a Belted Kingfisher. As I write, a Bald Eagle is on the ice beside the open water feasting on a Canada Goose that did not make it through the night last night. The 'open spot' holds eight Mallards and 46 diving ducks ( 2 Redheads, 12 Ring-necks and the rest are Lesser Scaup). Canada Geese = are beginning to arrive. Had around 3000 of them last night, arriving just before full darkness. Lots of conversation amongst the local Great Horned Owls last night, and last Wednesday as we were coming home after dark, we spooked up a = Barred Owl a couple of miles from our place - first for me in Talbot County = this year. Maybe the Bohemian Waxwing will be out tomorrow morning ----?
