MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit This morning at 0815, I dropped by the reported Waxwing site in Queenstown. In the rows of cherry-like trees, there were only about 120 waxwings feeding today. The tips others have provided about size and shape difference were a great help in isolating the bird in binos at first. I got my shoulder-mount scope on them, and picked out the Bohemian. I had a decent 10-second view of the bird before the flock got up and moved. There were no starlings in with this flock. I spent another 15 minutes trying to relocate, with no luck. There was a smaller flock flying about, but it was pure Cedars. In this instance, timing was everything!
