MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I checked out a number of "water" spots in Caroline Co. today with the following results: Tanyard - Common Mergs. 23, Black Ducks 2, Mallards 18. Also, one Lesser Black Back Gull (adult) among many, many Great Black Backs, Herrings and Ring-bills. Surprisingly, no Green-wing Teal today. End of Hog Neck Road at the Choptank - Common Mergs. 62 Town of Choptank at the river and marsh - Common Mergs. 16, Mallards 5, Tundra Swans 12 Federalsburg ponds and creek - Mallards many Smithville Lake - Hooded Mergs 26, Ring-necked ducks 22, Mallards 12 Williston Lake - No waterfowl, lake was still frozen Martinak State Park - Common Mergs. 97, Hooded Mergs 2, Mallards 20 Denton WWTP - Back pond still 1/2 frozen - Mallards 2 Ridgely WWTP - Mostly frozen, one open spot filled with Canada Geese Sparks Road wet area, temporary pond near Stephenson Road - Pintails 23, Mallards 77, Green-winged Teal 8, Gadwall 2 Tuckahoe State Park lake and marsh - Ringed-neck ducks 6, Wood ducks 2, Coots 2, Hooded Mergs 2, Mallards many, Snow Geese 8 Canada Geese were at almost all of these spots and in very good numbers. The number of Common Mergansers along the Choptank was impressive. I am sure there were many more but I did not have time to access other areas along the river.
