Armistead late this afternoon checking out the waterfowl (all common birds), when a Peregrine Falcon flew over my head and sailed upwards to perch near the tip of the Key Bridge (where Baltimore City, Baltimore Co., and Anne Arundel Co. all converge). I put the scope on it, to get a distant, but descent view of the adult bird. I don't know if this is a traditional roost, or even nesting site for these birds, or not. Earlier, I had taken a walk around the Halethorpe Pond (Balt. Co.); about 20% of the water area was open, but the only ducks were 7 Hooded Mergansers and several Mallards. A Fox Sparrow was seen near the entrance (by the I-895 overpass), and a Brown Creeper was seen back in the woods between the pond and the Patapsco River. A pair of Pileated Woodpeckers was quite vocal and active, adding to the ambiance of the pleasant weather.
