This is similar to Bob Ringler's story. Many years back when I first started birding there was an unusual bird was on the official check list of the Patuxent River Park/Jug Bay. I could not find it in any field guide. It was the Double-breasted Cormorant. I don't know if it's plumage was a double breasted suit or what. It was likely a secretary typo.
