It was in the wildlfe area on the west end of the lake, which has thawed. Also present were about 20 Ring-necked Ducks, a male and female N. Pintail, 1 Black Duck, a female C. Goldeneye, and 5 Hooded Mergansers. The mergansers were at both the west end, and the hole in the ice at the Concession Stand. The large hole to the east of the boat ramp had at least 4 Bufflehead. One Herring Gull was with the Ring- billes. A Great Blue Heron flew by. I was told the Green-winged Teal reported by Sherry on Thursday was still present, but I couldn't find it. The Ft. McHenry walk led by Jim Peters this morning produced TWO Bald Eagles on the nest. There were abundant Am. Widgeon and Bufflehead, and a coot. Great Black-Backed Gull was present, as were Herrings. Two Mute Swans. Song birds were limited to Starling, Red-winged Blackbird (they were singing!), White-throated Sparrow, Song Sparrow, House Finch, and Am. Goldfinch, plus ubiquitous Black-throated Weaver Finches.
