Even its cousin, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, has been pushed out of much St. Louis into the surrounding countryside by the aggressive tendencies of P. domesticus. How about calling it Black-reputationed Old World Sparrow, or Eurasian Invasive Sparrow, or Pirate Passerid, or Blackbeard? Bill Ellis -----Original Message----- From: Robert Ringler Sent: Saturday, February 21, 2004 10:11 PM ... the bird to which you are referring is in the family Passeridae which the checklist committee has dubbed Old World Sparrows, ... Since the name Black-throated Sparrow is already preoccupied perhaps you need to give it some other catchy title. ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
