Barred and Great Horned Owls are currently the only owls in their safe dates, although sufficiently territorial responses by screech-owls or owls out of safe dates in pairs often deserve "T" and "P" codes. Locations of screech-owls and Barn Owls also would help local observers place birds in blocks during each species' safe dates. The county coordinator for Somerset County is Charles Vaughn (410-742-7221) 1306 Frederick Ave, Salisbury, MD 21782, email: essc@comcast.net When you send the info to Charlie you need to be as specific about locations as possible because Somerset (oddly enough) is being surveyed entirely by quarterblock. Thanks for offering to submit your owling results to the atlas - owls are definitely a "problem" group for our project.
