Both Fran and I are convinced we had a totally different bird on Sunday (noted earlier as a Thick-billed Murre) but because we couldn't get anyone else on the bird and because our observation time was admittedly limited, we've decided to back away from an ID and hope for a better opportunity to observe this species in Maryland waters at a later date. Sometimes you just have to let birds go unidentified.
