I was the scoff-law with the tripod who showed you the Glaucous Gull. A lifer for me too. All I have to add to Jim's report is a single Lesser Black-backed Gull adult at the boat dock - maybe one that Jim had already seen. The Glaucous was not there when I arrived at around 10:10 a.m. Something was stirring up the gulls around then - most were in flight. Gradually, they settled down - but nothing of any great interest (nice mergansers, though). I was about to leave (after scanning about every gull on the Basin!) when at around 10:30 I noticed a very pale gull in flight over the FDR Memorial. I followed the bird in my binocs for about three minutes, watched it land, got it in the scope and - voila - unmistakable - the Glaucous. It stayed on the water on the FDR Memorial side until I left about twenty minutes later. When I left, it was at rest with its bill tucked in (glad Jim and I got a shot of it before that...).
