A lot of Red-breasted Mergansers have moved into the = area including a flock of 70 at Bogle's Wharf. Also at Bogle's Wharf = were some distant grebes including a single Horned and two RED-NECKED. = Although Tundra Swans are starting to head north there were still = hundreds at Eastern Neck and they are most sonorous in their = restlessness to be moving on. We saw over 9 Bald Eagles including an = adult carrying a big stick in its feet at Eastern Neck, we did not = notice if it was speaking softly. To wrap up, we were seranaded by a = Great Horned Owl near the base of the Boxes Pt. Trail and saw another on = our circuitous way homeward presiding over the Tavern Creek crossing = north of Swan Pt. I hope everyone is able to get out and enjoy this = preview of spring weather on the rare 29th of February. How many months = occasionally offer an extra day to set your monthly bird list record?
