The CBC to which you are referring was the first Baltimore Canyon CBC led by Rich Rowlett. Of the 17 species seen that day were 759 Dovekies. By the way, the ocean is never like a millpond. At the risk of labeling myself as an Ol Coot, I remember the supposedly first ever Ocean City Christmas Count, led by Chan Robbins, on Dec 30, 1978, in which we had literally hundreds of Dovekies. The ocean was like a mill pond, which allowed us to reach such high numbers. Perhaps someone with access to the numbers can recall how many Dovekies we actually had. In my notes I recalled Rich Rowlett and Paul Dumont were on the trip, plus I think Steve Simon. Anybody with the actual numbers? -Joe Byrnes Columbia, Md joseph.byrnes@comcast.net ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
