Thanks to Dave Murzurk&*(W#$#@ for his assistance identifying this bird. Sorry, I don't know how to spell his name! We had the nice views of the bird sitting and flying. At the dock in the Eagle Nest Campground, out on the flats: black-bellied plovers, dunlin and oystercatchers. With permission from the pro in the pro shop at the Eagle Nest Golf Course, we observed the 2 Eurasian widgeons in the golf course pond from one of the greens. What a treat! Indian River Inlet, south side: purple sandpipers, sanderlings & ruddy turnstone. North Assateague Island: Brant on the flat south of the bridge & lots of yellow-rumps in the woods. Here's a personal note of thanks to veteran birders who cheerfully assist less experienced birders, who helped me find 3 life birds for the day. On another note, I found a red-headed woodpecker at the beginning of the Lookout Point Trail at Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary on Friday afternoon. There was also a flock of 10 bluebirds.
