I am waiting for Mark Hoffman to supply final numbers for the trip (with DE vs. MD splitting) before sending it around, and you were certainly on my list of people to get the report. I just figured I'd get them out by Wed. because I didn't realize that you needed the numbers for today. I assume you're interested in the highlights, and not our Herring Gull counts. These numbers are preliminary, but I'm sure they're very close. The highlights were 144 Dovekie (all MD waters), 2 Puffins (MD waters), 1 Common Murrre in breeding plumage (DE waters), and 23 Fulmars (in both MD and DE waters). We had several dozen Red Phalaropes (MD waters), but I don't have my actual list available and can't recall the count. We also had an adult Iceland Gull (MD waters), an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull (MD waters), and a probable "Nelson's" type gull. The birds really started to show up when the water got warmer. The inshore water temp was 37 degrees and the offshroe was 46 degrees! Hope this isn't too late. In the future, I'll keep in mind that you change the tape on Tuesdays. -Paul Paul A.
