While we were out working this morning we had a pair of red-tailed hawks and two flyover killdeer (the farmer around the corner is probably plowing fields). The surprise flyover for the day though was our first osprey for the year! It took us a moment to realize what it was. I guess spring really is on it's way! I think we'll head for Beavue Ponds this afternoon to see the short-eared owls again. They should be leaving in the next few weeks so if you haven't seen them you'd better do it soon. We had four of them on sunday. They've been vocalizing and lightly sparring with the northern harriers right around dusk There are also a few american coots at the Ponds if anyone needs them fo the year.. Happy birding!
