It was active in the conifers on the right just past the Asian Collection area (if you're driving with the Anacostia down to your left). This is a life-bird. Many thanks to all those who spotted it first and reported it. Other notable birds, feeding actively in the same area, were a Towhee (perhaps more than 1) and a Golden-Crowned Kinglet. (Both new birds for '04 and for DC). Other sightings during my 35 minutes there included Carolina Chickadee, two Common Flickers, numerous Cardinals, American Robins, American Crows and (in the Arboretum ponds) the usual Canada Geese and a Mallard couple. Probably a lot of other stuff around, too. Good birding! Warren P.
