Lots of splashing and chasing each other - lots of activity! On the walk home, I heard the peenting of at least three woodcock - one near Bill's Place, one north of the low water bridge (soon to be a high water bridge!) and the third across the road from our house. Also heard the wing whirr as it flew overhead and up the road. It was really great to hear, but I could not see it - it was too dark (around 6:30pm).
