MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I checked out Big Pool starting from Fort Frederick yesterday. It was still more iced over than not but there was enough open water that there was a nice selection of waterfowl present. Most of these were moving about on the far side of Big Pool about 1/2 way up the pool. Waterfowl included: Canada Geese - many (not counted) Wood Ducks - 2 Green-winged Teal - 2 American Black Ducks - 7 Mallards - 2 Northern Pintail - 10 American Wigeon - 3 Redhead - 2 Ring-necked Ducks - 2 Common Goldeneye - 8 Bufflehead - 4 Hooded Merganser - 4 Common Merganser - 12 Red-breasted Merganser - 2 Also, there were about 206 Ring-billed Gulls on the ice about 1/2 way up Big Pool (not far from where most of the ducks were). This was, by far, the most gulls that I have ever seen in Washington County.
