Highlights: OC Inlet: razorbill - resting at mouth of inlet many red-throated loons floating and fishing just outside inlet 2-3 common loons 10 or so brant geese over by the rocks on the far side groups of purple sandpiper groups of turnstone a snow white gull, just of the beach a little north of the Inlet, puzzled us. It was slightly larger than the ring-billed gull which it briefly chased, it had absolutely no black, grey or other markings on its upper parts - (and probably not on its underparts either) lovely bright white all over. Bill was dark tipped. It fished tern-like; hovering at ca. 15 feet before diving into the water. If flew up and down the beach with a bouyant flight. 2nd year iceland gull? We would appreciate any comments. . Golf Course Road Pond 100's of canvasbacks shovellers - busy feeding mallard coot Eagles Nest Road Campground 3 red-breasted mergansers several bufflehead 4-5 wigeon distant plover pacing back and forth on the Assateague mud flats; black-bellied? Berlin Sewage Ponds several ring-necked duck 1 ruddy duck All in all a very pleasant day.
