There was a lot more open water and a lot more waterfowl. Waterfowl seen included: Pied-billed Grebe - 1 Tundra Swan - 2 Canada Goose - Many Wood Duck - 3 American Black Duck - 6 Mallard - 6 Northern Pintail - More than 50 Northern Shoveler - 6 Gadwall - 2 American Wigeon - 24 Redhead - 1 Ring-necked Duck - More than 50 Bufflehead - 8 Hooded Merganser - 28 Common Merganser - 47 Red-breasted Merganser - 12 On Wednesday, there were more than 200 Ring-billed Gulls at Big Pool. Today, there were none. Also, I stopped at the "seasonal pond" on Route 57, near Dry Run, mentioned yesterday in a posting by Sue Hamilton. In and around the pond were 63 Tundra Swans, 5 Green-winged Teal and a number of Canada Geese.
