Two of these were clearly HORNED GREBES. The third was the same size as the others but with darker cheeks, it appeared that breeding plumes were starting to show. The white along the flanks of this bird reached higher up the back than on the other two. It also had the "floating pillow" shape that I associate with EARED GREBE in the West while the other 2 rode lower in the water. The white on the necks of all the birds were about the same.
