John Bjerke was leading an ANS adult foray for waterfowl, which were scant. Before he arrived I had a brief visit by an Eastern Phoebe which landed in a small tree by the deck then flew off. After he arrived we were talking and birding, and he picked out a high flying TREE SWALLOW, which hung around flying back and forth (still high) over the lake while I was there. Ran into Gary Smyle and a group from Frederick County MOS which he was leading too. He reported Pied-billed and Horned Grebes, Canvasbacks and Redheads, etc. from the bridge. Not much waterfowl, as I think most left when the lake froze up this winter and haven't returned. Still, nice to see a phoebe and swallow...
