Our best birds of the morning were Red-necked Grebe (1), Wood Duck (5), Barred Owls calling (2), Red-breasted Nuthatch (4), Brown Creeper (3), Fox Sparrow (6). At the conclusion of the scheduled trip, 4 of us birded the Paper Mill Swamp Trail. Of the 9 species of ducks we saw, the 49 Gadwalls, 5 Green-winged Teal, 2 Redheads and 124 Ring-necked Ducks were most enjoyed. Also, we heard an Eastern Phoebe singing in the direction ot the Paper Mill bridge. Around 7:30 at the #1 bridge, I saw 25 Red-breasted Mergansers.
