Ed Boyd & I did some birding in Calvert. In general there was a smattering of waterfowl, but the numbers are way down from a few weeks ago. On the other hand, Common Loon & Horned Grebe numbers are on the increase. Four Northern Gannets were offshore of North Beach and three were off of Cove Point Lighthouse. The highlights were two Great Cormoants on a channel marker west of the end of Lloyd Bowen Road and three Brown-headed Nuthatches in the pine woods near the end of Lloyd Bowen Road. Hans must have been at Solomons earlier in the day...all we saw were lots of sailboats. Good Birding!
