It was about halfway between the bridges and the point, across from the marina. It kept close to the East Potomac Park side, so I had some very good looks at it. Further down the channel, there was a group of about 10 scaup along the Fort McNair seawall. I think they were LESSER SCAUP based on the shape of their heads, but without a greater scope I could not be sure. The Tidal Basin held both COMMON and RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, in addition to about 40 D-C CORMORANTS.
