I love hearing from folks who are relatively new to birding and I think others do here, as well. Your enthusiasm helps us relive the same feelings we had, oh so many years ago! Congrats on the new binoculars and especially on the Fox Sparrow--handsome bird, no? We were really lucky to have as many as 5 of these birds all winter at our feeders in Ocean City, probably more than I've ever seen in one place before! I'm unfamiliar with the Rappole book--is it new? The plethora of field guides has led me to be more selective in my purchases, but, what the heck, one can never have too many field guides, right?
