The oldest band return on a Bald Eagle is 29 years and 7 months. In captivity there are records of 50 year old birds. If that is the case one of the captive eagles I work with who is turning 25 this spring is just reaching his mid life. While we are on the subject of Eagles. Blackwater Wildlife Refuge is having it's Eagle Festival tomorrow, Saturday March 13, 2004. form 8 am - 4pm. http://www.friendsofblackwater.org/festival.html The celebration begins with a bird hike at 8am and continues through the day with live birds and shows. I will be there at 12:45 with an adult female bald eagle. BTW the Blackwater has waived the refuge entry fee for the day. If you drop by say hi if you run into me.
