Usual thing; saddening. Saddening indeed Elise! A similar situation occured here in Montgomery County a few years ago. A friend (RavenFrank Boyle, by name) had discovered one of the truely great woodcock spots in the county, a spot bordering the adult education campus of UM on Shady Grove Rd. in Rockville. You could pull right up in a parking lot, facing a scrubby field with the setting sun at your back, a strip of grass in front of you, and simply wait until the light was perfect. The woodcocks would display in front of you, either as you watched from your car (like a drive-in movie) or if the weather was fair, you could stand on the grassy strip. It was woodcock watching nirvana. It became a local legend (well, perhaps I exagerate...), but after only a few years, along came the bulldozers, and now a shopping center or something stands there. And this is progress!
