We had 5 kids plus 3 parents, and we had another really fun trip. We had really great looks at singing Eastern Phoebes, and on the river we had large numbers of Horned Grebes, with at least 2 in near full breeding plumage. Also had 3 Red-necked Grebes, a pair of N. Pintails, a handful of A. Wigeon, a raft of mostly Lesser Scaup with at least 2 male Greater Scaup, a few D.C. Cormorants, and a large number of Tree Swallows flying about over the river. A walk through the woods around the pond produced a singing WINTER WREN, a real treat for us all. Yellow-rumped Warblers and E. Bluebirds were present in small numbers. Thanks to Matt, Andy, David, Cyrus and Mary Catherine and their folks for coming out on such a cold and windy day!
