I looked for the coot today (Monday, 3/15) at Hughes Hollow. No luck, just three typical American Coots. Also present, a good selection of waterfowl ... Lots of Ringed-necked Ducks, both Blue-wing and Green-winged Teal, a handful an a half of Hooded Mergs, a Pied-billed Grebe, at least one Lesser Scaup. Oh yes, did I mention Mallards and Canada Geese?
