We saw both the Eared and Horned Grebe in breeding plumage. Osprey seemed to be everywhere= . We added an additional seven species during the ride for a total of forty-four species for the trip. Poplar Island List: Common Loon, Horned Grebe, Eared Grebe, Great Blue Heron, Tundra Swan, Mute Swan, Canada Goose, American Black Duck, Mallard, Northern Shoveler, Greate= r Scaup, Lesser Scaup, Long-tailed Duck, Black Scoter, Surf Scoter, White-winged Scoter, Bufflehead, Red-breasted Merganser, Black Vulture, Turkey Vulture, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Killdeer, Sanderling, Dunlin, Ring-billed Gull, Herring Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Rock Pigeon, Mourning Dove, Fish Crow, Eastern Bluebird, European Starling, Northern Cardinal, Song Sparrow, Red-winged Blackbird, Common Grackle, House Finch, American Goldfinch Birds along the way: Great Egret, Double-crested Cormorant, American Kestrel, American Crow, American Robin Northern Mockingbird, House Sparrow Big, big thank you to Jim Peters and Gail =B3Mud-sock=B2 Frantz for connecting us to the Island and great work they undertaking.
