We were successful on both accounts. Here is a breakdown of the locations: Lapidum Landing: Bonaparte's Gull - 250 this total fluctuated throughout the day, but never more than 250 Little Gull - 1 adult winter plumage seen in Harford and Cecil counties Black-headed Gull - 1 adult flying upriver in Cecil County. The larger size and dusky primaries on the underwing were seen well, but I couldn't tell if it had a hood or not. Wood Duck - 2 American Coot - 1 Eastern Phoebe - 1 singing constantly Bald Eagle - many on the river today Mouth of Deer Creek: Bonaparte's Gull - 100 some of these may have been birds from Lapidum, but we were able to determine two distinct flocks, one at Lapidum extending half way to Rock Run and one north of the Mouth of Deer Creek. Common Merganser - 7 Northern Pintail - 3 Bufflehead - 2 Conowingo Pool: Bonaparte's Gull - 20 Snow Goose - 1 lone bird on the Harford side that we flushed from the shore, probably the same bird that Mike Burchett and I saw here 2 weeks ago. American Wigeon - 16 Common Merganser - 18 Ring-necked Duck - 28 Lesser Scaup - 5 Greater Scaup - 2 Greater Yellowlegs - 1 flying upriver Swan Harbor impoundment: not exact numbers too difficult with the grasses Gadwall - 2 American Wigeon - 25 Green-winged Teal - 40 Northern Pintail - 20 Mallard - 6 Canada Goose - 60 Wilson's Snipe - 1 Greater Yellowlegs - 2 Horned Lark - 2 Tree Swallow - 15 Hooded Merganser - 2 Ring-necked Duck - 10 Club House Rd pond in Perryman: exact numbers Gadwall - 106 American Wigeon - 43 Ring-necked Duck - 7 Green-winged Teal - 6 Common Merganser - 1 Hooded Merganser - 2 Blue-winged Teal - 3 Northern Shoveler - 1 Belted Kingfisher - 1 Mallard - 2 Red-shouldered Hawk - 1 Bald Eagle - 1 Osprey - 1 Matt Hafner Bel Air, MD (for spring break) ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
