Leslie, a good mnemonic for the Carolina Wren is "teakettle, teakettle, teakettle, tea!" It can go from high to low (as you heard it) or low to high. Just picture a Carolina Wren pouring tea from a brown teakettle with a white stripe near the top, and it will help you remember it.
