We had intended to take a brief tour along the Potomac and Tidal Basin area to look for the White-winged Scoters that Mike Bowen had seen the day before (thanks Mike!). Thanks to Lisa for saying that she wanted to go look for the scoters (and for driving down there), and for spotting the bird as it returned from a brief voyage to the other side (and out of sight) of Memorial Bridge before even Paul Pisano had arrived. Thanks also to Paul O'Brien and Mary Ann Todd for posting to Osprey about this bird while I was calling cell phones. We finally did head up to Massachusetts, over an hour after we thought we were going to be.
