I stopped at Diamond Point this afternoon, where there was a good vantage point of the mudflats and the river. I bumped into Frank Schaff and Barbara (sorry, I forgot the last name)and we scanned the river. After searching unsuccessfully for a while, Barbara spotted one Little Gull flying against the far shore. The black underwing was very distinctive. We saw this bird in flight and at rest (briefly), getting good looks at the wing pattern. Later, Barbara again spotted the bird, this time at rest next to another adult winter Little Gull. Both birds were floating on the river, but on the far side of the mudflats. Also present were hundreds of Bonaparte's Gulls, Ring-billed Gulls, and smaller numbers of Herring and Great-Black Backed Gulls, an Osprey (successfully hunting over the river), and an Eastern Phoebe.
