Other species of note were an Eastern Phoebe calling loudly from the treetops and two healthy-sized Belted Kingfishers. All 3 are year birds for our family (#s 79, 80 and 81) and new additions to my 3-month-old D.C. Bird List. Other species noted in a stroll down the boardwalk were: Red-Winged Blackbird, 3+, also calling loudly. Mallard, 5-6 pair. Green-Winged Teal Blue Heron Canada Goose (30 plus, squawking loudly at my presence) Cardinal * Probable Wigeon Good Birding! Warren P.
