First, we went to Lilypons where we saw a Great Blue Heron and many Canada Geese. It was great when the girls weren't chasing the geese away. :) I also saw Tree Swallows, which is a new one for me. On the way out, I saw an American Kestrel on a power line on New Design Road. Another new one for me. We then headed back to Frederick and rode around downtown (to let the baby nap) and I spotted a pair of Killdeer on the creek. Another new one for me! Our final stop was Culler Lake so the girls could chase Mallards and those Pekin/Mallard hybrids. Am I the only one that thinks those things are crazy looking? Of the hybrids, there's one that is almost black - you can only see the Mallard markings when the sun strikes it. Between all of that excitement in one day, and the Leucistic Hawk we saw on Tuesday, I'd say it's been a pretty good week so far!
