I stopped by Whetstone and Frank before, but there wasn't a thing in either of them. Needwood seemed similar at first until I saw a flash of white in the middle of the lake. There were two pairs of breeding plumage Common Mergensers. They were soooooo pretty. It might not be out of the ordinary, but I was having a blast. I had never seen a mergenser until this year, or a grebe for that matter. I've gotten my American Life list to 151! I'm really happy. Anyway, here's what I saw: Common Mergenser (2 breeding pairs) Killdeer (2) Canada Goose (small flock) Mallard (5) Great Blue Heron (2) Song Sparrow (small flock) Fox Sparrow (questionable) Downy Woodpecker (heard) UDs(unidentified ducks) (small flock) ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
