I was able to cover a fair amount of ground on foot before the rain started. There were several species coming and going; the highlights: Halethorpe Pond #3 (Patapsco Valley State Park land) hosted a BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON (a summer resident here), a pair of GREEN-WINGED TEAL, and a WILSON'S SNIPE. The wooded area between the pond and the Patapsco River had a singing E. PHOEBE, a few GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETs, and the river itself had several WOOD DUCK pairs. I did not hear any singing Yellow-throated Warblers, which usually come through this area, but I also usually don't find them until the first or second week of April. A large raptor moving through the woods, that gave me a flash of white was probably an immature Bald Eagle. While checking out several weedy fields, one at the end of Concorde Rd., off of Winterson in the BWI hotel district, had a SAVANNAH SPARROW and a VESPER SPARROW that provided some close and excellent views. This is an area that offers a lot of Field Sparrows, WE Vireo, and Blue Grosbeak in the summer. There was a lot of song this morning, provided by mostly chickadees, titmice, Carolina Wrens, cardinals and Red-winged Blackbirds.
