Yesterday afternoon, a male Blue-Winged Teal was at Centennial Lake in Howard. It was on the north side of the last island in the west, wildlife end. This was the same spot one was seen a week or so earlier. The female Common Merganser also remained, moving about quite a bit between boat ramp and concession. There were several boats out. No sign of the Pintails. Lake Elkhorn had 29 Ring-Necks, and 6 Pied-Billeds (there were three and two, respectively, at Centennial). Could not find any Winter Wrens or Rusty Blackbirds (it WAS mid-afternoon). Later in the evening, I was delighted to find Woodcock have returned to Columbia's Gateway Industrial Park. At least three were displaying at the traditional field at Robert Morse Drive.
