This site is an island mid-stream in the Potomac, opposite mile marker 8 on the C&O canal. I think last year the birds started to occupy nests at the end of March. However, I didn't have any binoculars this morning so couldn't tell whether the birds seen today were just hangng around or were back with a purpose in mind.
