The woodpeckers don't care. Use a dead tree or a peanut butter feeder. My yard came with a couple dead trees. I use one of them. It has been pretty successful for the past 18 years. Maybe twenty species have been documented feeding from it. I have seen several species of woodpeckers bring the young, and also White-breasted Nuthatch.
