I first heard it last summer, but was never able to find a pewee in the yard. By the time it was November and I was still hearing it, it was obviously a Starling. For that matter, I would be very careful with heard only Bobwhites. Some Starlings do very good Bobwhite calls. And with Bobwhite in such decline, it is important for the atlas to get an accurate picture and not one full of imposters. I find that Starlings usually give themselves away by adding plenty of Starling-only jabber in with songs they mimic. Good Birding, Glen -----Original Message----- From: George M. That's one reason why they make good cage birds in some parts of the world. They might be able to compete with Mockingbirds.
