Other waterfowl were scarce. Four Ring-Necked Ducks flew in and landed between the boat ramp and dam. One Pied-Billed Grebe was near the Concession Stand. A lone Coot was in the Wildlife Area. Other than that, Canda Geese and Mallards were all that was evident. No sign of the pintails. I did see one Fox Sparrow skulking in the brush on the south shore. An Eastern Towhee was giving quite a concert, all sorts of odd, metallic tones, with an occassional, semi-muted Drink Your Tee, and some T-WEEEEs. Almost reminscent of a Bobolink song! I had a Brown Creeper in my Ellicott City back yard about 1:55 p.m. A nice year bird. The treetops are full of E. Goldfinch, which has me hoping other, more unusual finches are lurking among them. But so far, only Goldfinch song.
