Seen at Assateague Island on Sunday, Oct. 12, rafts of Surf Scoters flying
in from the north, about a dozen Red-breasted Nuthatches on the woodland
nature trail accompanied by a few Brown Creepers and many Yellow-rumps.

On Sunday at the Chincoteague beach (Tom's Cove) about a dozen Northern
Gannets, most were juveniles (first year) a few were second year and two
adults. They were actively diving. There were more Black Scoters here than
Surf and one Common Loon. Near the Visitor's Center were a flock of
Brown-headed Nuthatches.

The weather was perfect!

Glad to see TON rising from the ashes (so to speak)!
