Folks: Just thought I'd get on the Peregrine bandwagon. Last week and Monday and Wednesday of this week, I've seen a mature Peregrine Falcon on or near the Thomas Johnson Bridge between Solomons and St. Mary's County. On Monday, the bird was perched on the Solomons side marker light at the crest of the bridge, the week before, it was on the center marker. Today (Wed) it was chasing Sky Rats over the trees on the St. Mary's side (I was looking down on the bird!). I don't know if any or all of these sightings are of the same bird. It's very hard to get anything more than a glance at them as there isn't any place to pull over and traffic in the morning is pretty heavy so slowing down is out of the question. All of the birds have been adults, though, so there is an outside chance they are one and the same or a pair. Also, I had another Peregrine perched on a phone pole on Monday near the intersection of Parran and Mackall Rds. in Calvert County. -- Good Birding! ...and all this science, Tyler Bell I don't understand, It's mailto:bell@say.acnatsci.org just my job five days a week.
