Tuesday, November 11 A first winter male BLACK SCOTER was seen this morning
at Wilde Lake in Columbia.Floating in the center of the lake. Last seen
around noon. Also, at Centennial Park a single ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was
seen around 10:30 AM. Enter via the South entrance. Turn left up the hill
to the picnic pavilions and park. Walk the path that parallels Rt 108 until
it makes a sharp turn right at a picnic bench dedicated to the Howard
County Woodworkers Guild. Continue to the right another 30 yards to the
spot where the warbler was seen. Other goodies around today, all three
Columbia lakes had large numbers of BUFFLEHEADS and RUDDY DUCKS. Also,
Centennial had a flock of HOODED MERGANSERS. Wilde Lake had a couple
CANVASBACKS. Lake Elkhorn had three female GADWALLS.

Good Birding,

Darius.
