Norm,

Your post got me prodded into looking at my year list. Until
yesterday I had also missed Fox Sparrow, but found one in the morning
before work as my 420th bird for 1997. 1997 for us included a trip
to Arizona, a trip to California and a lot of East coast birding.

Paula is just a few birds behind me at 413.

It looks like I could maybe make 430 if I took off work between Thanksgiving
and Christmas (grin ..... I wish).

Here are some of the birds I still need possible in Mayland or close
by.

Red-necked Grebe
Ross' Goose
Barrow's Goldeneye
Ring-necked Pheasant
Red Phalarope
Red-necked Phalarope
Franklin's Gull
Long-eared Owl
Short-eared Owl
Northern Saw Whet Owl
Brown-headed Nuthatch
Sedge Wren
Bohemian Waxwing
Northern Shrike
Rusty Blackbird
Pine Grosbeak
White-winged Crossbill
Common Redpoll

Let me know if you find any of these. I already know where to go to
get a few of them, just have to get the time to do it.

Off to Cape May tomorrow. The only birds I need for my year list are
the Sedge Wren and White-winged Crossbill. I needed the Cave
Swallow too, but I think they've left.

Good Birding,
