MD Birders, Michael and I just returned from Garrett Co. this afternoon (12/5). We had up to 18 White-winged Crossbills and one Red Crossbill this morning at New Germany SP, flying around the vicinity of the lake. We heard them twice and saw them on three occasions from about 6:45 to 10:15AM. We assume this to mean that they are stable, for the time being. There are about two inches of snow on the ground, fresh this morning, and some of the roads were icy, but that should be cleared up by now. Also in the area were 3 Siskins and 7 Evening Grosbeaks (there were 50 last Saturday). Good luck! P.S. We saw Ravens in Garrett, Allegany and Washington Cos. today. Is that a record?
