Charles Swift, ex-Baltimore birder now living in Idaho and visiting
for the holidays, called today (December 31) and said that he and others
had found both Red and White-winged Crossbills at Pine Ridge Golf Course at
Loch Raven Reservoir today. The birds were seen most frequently around the
6th and 7th greens and tees, which are right behind the driving range
parking lot on the entrance road. As many as 10 Reds and an indeterminate
number of White-wingeds were seen.

"Everywhere I go I'm asked if the university stifles writers. My opinion is
that they don't stifle enough of them. There's many a bestseller that could
have been prevented by a good teacher." Flannery O'Connor
